Junior High Chess League

The Middle School/Junior High Chess League of MN (JHL), North Suburban division, is starting up ASAP. We would like to know if you and other chess players from your school would like to form a team to represent your school in the JHL. You need 5 players and an adult adviser (a responsible parent or teacher) from your school to be a team. You are welcome to have more than one team represent your school. This is for players in grade 9 and below. If you are interested contact directors Ty Turner or Robin Altman (see below).

The fee for 1 team of 5 players is $46, 2 teams $69, 3 teams $81. This is a School Chess Association Merit Point event.

Matches will be Wednesday afternoons 4:00 – 6:00 pm starting ASAP and ending the week of March 10. Matches will be at the Heilicher Minneapolis Jewish Day School (HMJDS). Access to HMJDS is through the Sabes Jewish Community Center, 4330 Cedar Lake Road South, St Louis Park, MN, (952) 381-3400. The league play-off for the top teams in each division is tentatively scheduled for Sun. afternoon March 14.

In addition to JHL team matches we will run a challenge ladder open to all chess players grade 9 and below from your school.
