Merit Points accumulate for every School Chess Association sponsored tournament that you play in.

In a 4 round tournament, each win is 1.25 points and each draw is .5 points. In a 5 round tournament, each win is 1 point and each draw is .5 points. Minimum of 1 point per tournament.

First place means 6 merit points and other trophies mean 5 merit points. Players who win a trophy get either six (if 1st place) or five merit points (for a trophy)-they do not also get points for their wins- this is based on a five round tournament. The STATE Elementary/Primary tournament is 7 rounds and hands out (8) merit points for 1st place and (7) merit points for a trophy player, but they do not receive points for their wins as well.

	Achievement awards are:
	Bronze Medal - 10 points
	Silver Medal - 25 points
	Gold Medal - 50 points
	Wall Plaque - 100 points
	Super Wall Plaque - 200 points
	Crystal Award - 300 points
	Engraved Wooden Chess Clock - 400 points
	Special Engraved Wooden Chess Set - 500 points
